History:
- The magnificent Mayan ruins at Copan indicate settlement beginning around 1200B.C. The sites consists of pyramids, temples and intricately carved stelae (standing stone monuments).
Stable government:
- Honduras has had 26 of uninterrupted civil government elected democratically. Along with Costa Rica, Honduras has escaped the civil strife which during the 1980s afflicted all the other Central American countries

- When to visit? the most popular time to visit Honduras is from around December to April, during the North American winter
- Visas- Citizens of most Western European countries,
Australia, Canada, USA, and New Zealand can stay for
upi to 30 days without a visa if they are visiting
as tourists. Since 2007 you can apply for an extension
for a total of a three month stay after which one
has to leave the group of countries, namely Honduras,
Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador. To be able to
re-enter and get another three months visa one would
have to go to either Belize, Mexico or Costa Rica
and stay a minimum of three days.
