Our Jungle River Lodge is set amidst the most spectacular scenery that you will see in Honduras. You will immediately be struck by the immenseness of the lush green mountains that tower above you on all sides and the panoramic view of the river.
You are surrounded by National Parks, Pico Bonito and Nombre de Dios and their vast rainforest ecosystem. Pico Bonito National Park is the largest national park in Honduras , its highest peak is 2436m which many attempt to conquer but, you may choose to enjoy from our riverside hammocks.
Jungle River Lodge is the only lodge set right on the banks
of the Rio Cangrejal. Situated at a bend in the river the lodge
has its own natural amphitheatre to look out on. With its cathedral-like
boulders and pristine waters, it is like a natural playground
and you'll be climbing and jumping into the river like a kid
again.
Our Lodge is constructed of all natural materials that blend into the vibrant foliage that envelopes the area. You will be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the river rushing past and awakened by the songs of the jungle birds.
A typical day at the Jungle River Lodge may include, whitewater rafting down class 3-4 rapids in the morning, then testing out your Tarzan skills as you soar from tree top to tree top on our Zipline Canopy Course in the afternoon.
As the sun sets on another day in the Jungle, you can enjoy
a cold beer while relaxing in our natural stone pools.
- Coco and Bamboo Restaurant and Bar, serves substantial
and nutritious meals with a local flare, vegetarian option
available. You will have earned a cold beer or 3 after all
that activity.
- Jungle River Tours, we've got it all: rafting trips,
canopy tours, hiking in Pico Bonito National Park, wildlife
trips to Cuero y Salado and Cacao Lagoon, whichever adventure
you are looking for we can arrange it for you!
- Book Exchange and Library, get a new book or do a little
research on the flora and fauna of the area.
- Very own Macaws, pleasant company at breakfast.
- Natural spring fed rock pools.
- Transportation available to and from our lodge to anywhere
in La Ceiba, airport and ferry terminal. Fees apply.
Please Note: If you ask us to arrange transport for you from
the ferry or airport we'd be happy to however, you must reconfirm
the arrangement within 36 hrs of the pick up. You can email
us the day before or phone us at 504 440 1268, 441 9404, even
on the same day. Sorry arranged transport that is not reconfirmed
will have to be cancelled. In that case, call us when you
arrive and we'll send out a taxi or catch a taxi either to
our downtown guesthouse, The Banana Republic or directly to
the lodge. Don't forget to always arrange prices with local
taxis before the trip and make sure they know that Jungle
River Lodge is at on the river side of the road loacted at
"7 km, carretera a Yaruka, cuenca Cangrejal". Also
if you are booked to do a tour the same day that you arrive
you can come to the Banana Republic to coordinate with the
departure times of 8 am or 1 pm and take advantage of the
transport up to the lodge, included with the tour. Make sure
we know your plans. Most tours and tour transport have a min.
of 2 persons so if you are alone and going this route please
contact us so that we can confirm your tour and transport
from La Ceiba. Also, if you have asked us to arrange transport
for you but you have experienced delays for whatever reason,
delay fees usually apply after a 45 min.
