We are Jungle River Lodge, one of the few backpacker-friendly lodges located between two of the largest and most diverse national parks in Honduras. Unlike most other local accommodation, we are located directly on the Rio Cangrejal. The rustic character of the lodge gives it a cosy and homely atmosphere inspired by the surrounding jungle. Jungle River Lodge is located between two of the most beautiful national parks in Honduras: Pico Bonito National Park and Nombre de Dios National Park. These two national parks are separated by the Rio Cangrejal. Pico Bonito National Park in particular is one of the most biodiverse national parks in Central America because it is so large and hosts a variety of climates, ranging from tropical rainforest in the lowlands bordering the coastal plain of Atlantida to tropical cloud forest at altitudes of over 1,800 metres above sea level. The highest peak is Pico Bonito, which is 2,485 metres above sea level and takes about ten days to hike. Pico Bonito is one of the least explored national parks in Honduras, therefore the park remains in its natural state with only a handful of hiking trails. Because of the special landscape it offers, it is home to many special species such as jaguars, armadillos, wild boar, monkeys, toucans, white-tailed deer, mountain lions, river otters and many other species.

"Jungle River Lodge is picturesque, nestled in a stunning location on the rocks on along the river. We saw many beautiful animals right outside the lodge. The lodge has accommodating and delightful staff. The facilities provided everything we needed, including last minute hiking and rafting. Meals and drinks were amazing, and the room was very comfortable."

"Highly recommend this hostel! The family are so kind and welcoming and make it feel like a home from home in the most incredible setting. They offer a white water rafting tour with canyoning and it was our favourite tour we’ve done so far in Central America. They also offer meals at a very reasonable price and it was a great to try some traditional Honduran dishes. Honestly do NOT skip this place!"
